I've been meaning to fabricate my own. Haven't been able to find any good scrap yet though, and keep forgetting to take the tow hook to the local tools store and find a bolt with same threads. Eventually I'll do a how to. Literally should only cost 10 dollars or less.

I made my own with some aluminium bar stock and a ebay tow hook minus the round attachment. Bent it up.

Well done. That's what I've been intending to do, just haven't made it a priority yet.

I'll put a plug in for all Craven products. They are well-designed, top quality and manufactured in Oregon buy great folks. Their Platypus mount is what we proudly sell.

I've had great success with Grimspeed. I like the flexibility of adjustment it offers.

Hah! I had the same reaction to it that I had to my phone/SG holder. "I paid how much for this?? ... Oh, wait... This really is engineered well, isn't it? Yeah, it really is worth that much..."

I have the U.S. Millworks mount....its full width support of your license plate unlike the Platapus mount and is extremely well made...and priced accordingly unfortunately. Even has an optional "quick release" feature to remove your plate prior to car wash brushes attacking it.

I have had a platypus since I got the car (Aug '13) and have had no problems. Very well designed.
