Price to good to be true.

Hello,
I'm new to the world of mini and just starting to look around for 1. I am in search of a countryman s all4. I have found a 2014 with 70,000 miles on it and the dealer wants 18,500. Now this seems really low to me. Am I missing something ? Or does the value really drop on these once they get out of warranty ? This dealer does rides alongside with you so I can't go to my mechanics and have him do a once over.
If I have to I can post a link.

Why not? Just ask them. I bet they'll let you take it to a mechanic for a pre purchase inspection. If they don't, I'd go somewhere else...

I don't consider it "too good to be true" for a car with 70,000 miles.

Two questions:

1. What is the blue book value?
2. Is the car being sold at a MINI dealer?

+1 above. Found MINIs very with very low prices at GM and Ford dealerships in rural areas just wanting them off the lot.

This.

Seems on-par to me for the mileage.

I would not buy a USED MINI without it being CPO . SO yes to me their value tanks after the warranty is up.

I too thought I wanted an ALL 4 when I first ever looked at MINI's but now having gone through several ice storms and a winter snow storm in TX there is nothing needing ALL wheel drive, the Front drive is quite adequate. And the CM in general was so much slower than the cooper S I never looked back, BUT my son has one but he has kids and it works great for him.

How does one even put 70,000 miles on a car in what, two years?

It was possibly a rental car. As much as I love my Mini I wouldn't own one that didn't have a new car warranty. Their dependability is just too questionable.

Some people drive it so many miles because they like it. I have 248,000 on an 05' .

There is one in Buford, GA I looked at that's listed for about the same price... Red with a manual. And that's pretty in line with the KBB. I believe KBB is around $19,500.

I know someone that travels quite a bit for his job. It's easy to put on 70,000 miles when you drive from Atlanta to Birmingham, Memphis, Charlotte, Nashville, and New Orleans a few times each a month. Company just gives him a gas card and a $90k salary and away he goes.

When it comes down to it, dealers just want to keep a constant flow of cash. The best way to do that is to have a constant flow of sales. If they got the car on the low side most dealers will price it on the low side to ensure a specified profit margin and quick sale.
