Buying a Test Drive Car

My local dealer is offering a 2015 (January) Mini One, 1.2T, manual for sale. It only has 9000 kms on it and their starting asking price is about 5% off the normal price. It still has 2.5 years of warranty and after a quick walk around, it looks brand new.
  • Has anybody ever bought a test drive car?
  • Could all those drivers have caused some damage that might only show up later?
  • What should I look for?
  • Should I just avoid it altogether?

I wouldn't have a problem buying it. Though I have to admit 5600 miles is a bit high for a test car that is a 2015.

Shouldn't it have a full warranty if its never been titled?

I'm going to see it tomorrow to get all the details.

I would consider that in my negotiation if I were you. See if there a lottle more that can come off and there is a certain percentage of the millage warranty eaten up by the dealership.

I wouldn't chance it. I'm sure the wear on the various parts of the car is considerably more than the miles (kms) on the car would suggest.

Depends on how long you wanna keep it. Long term ownership, say more than 5 years, no.

Doesn't matter if it was titled or not, being a 2015 it has the bumper to bumper warranty to any owner..

Sorry for the confusion. Turned out to be a regular trade-in with one previous owner.

Except for a very, very small crease in the passenger door (looks like a hit when opening the door), it's basically a new car with 9000 kms.

Bought it! I'm positive it will be a big improvement over my 2006 R50, which I loved (except for the maintenance bills).

Thanks for the input.

Sounds great, was it a CPO to 100,000 mile warranty ? Unless your country does not offer that program.
