Hello,

I have a 2003 Mini Cooper Base R50. When it starts there's a loud rattle near the muffler. I thought it was the head shield above the muffler being loose. But when I took it into the shop I was told that it was my catalytic converter. But there are no dash lights/codes.

Otherwise the car runs fine. Any ideas on that this can be? I'm hoping is it is not the cat as I live in New York State.

Are you able to have someone start the car for you while you look under the rear of the vehicle to confirm if maybe it's rattling on something? Does it happen at all any other time or only at start up?
