First Oil Change (DIY)

So today I did my first oil change since my service warranty ran out since I was over the miles. First problem I encountered was getting the anti freeze overflow out of the way. Couldn't do it without actually uncliping the bottom and pulling it out. Second problem was I added exactly 4.5 quarts of oil (I use Mobile 1 0-40W Euro Blend) and when I checked after the test ride the oil dipstick shows oil at the top of the plastic piece. Is this to much oil and should I drain some out.
Thanks
Doc McCoy (HMCS SARC) ret.

Oil Change

Overfilling the oil can cause the oil to 'foam' from contact with the crank. If this happens, this 'can' affect oil pressure which is not a good thing especially if this is on a Gen2 with Valvetronic which uses oil pressure to adjust valve opening.

Depends on 'how much' overfill, but the oil should be very close to the full mark on the dip stick.

Hope this helps!

My oil is just about half way up the top plastic bubble. It doesn't go onto the metal shaft of the dipstick as far as I can tell.

4.5 is what is called for, you're fine, leave it. When I have the oil changed at the dealer, I noticed it's a bit over the full mark. I suspect that they just put in 5 quarts and call it a day..
