You can order plates before having a vehicle for it to go with in your state?
I ordered them for my Countryman. At least it’s red like the MC40. Though I think Wisconsin might allow reserving vanity plates for a while before having a car to put them on.
In Wisconsin, the application for vanity plates requires an explanation of the meaning. Is that the case elsewhere? If so, I'd love to know how KSSMY-S was explained.

Same in Iowa. I feel weird about having to explain movie references.

Nope. PA has an approval clause saying they can deny anything for grounds of obscenity, potential confusion, etc. but they do not require any explanation.

Same in Colorado, had to give a brief explanation

Same in Colorado, denied my plate at first but after going there in person with puppy eyes and a more in detailed explanation they granted it. The FOK part in BOKBFOK does mean the same as the Four letter word starting with the same letter but only in a different language.
n AZ none of it was required and received the same plate in 2 weeks no questions asked.
Another 33 EJB. I've been waiting for the Spring thaw so I could post a photo of a clean car but there's still a lot of sand and melting snow on our road so I ran out of patience. Apologies for the filthy MINI.
I had already decided on that but was thinking about the plate XL MINI and figured that HAD to be taken.
So I check the system and I was correct, already taken.
Then several days later I leave the house and I'm just a mile or two into my commute and I spot another Countryman up ahead.
Guess what her plate was.
In all of Texas... i find that plate in my own neighborhood. What are the chances? lol
Seems like 33 EJB is a popular plate for MC40s. Since Texas is expensive for personalized plates ($150/yr), I decided if the following wasn't available I would skip it. Lo and behold!
