Could use some feedback deciding between a new or old Countryman S

So I am torn on which to go with. Help me out!

If it makes a difference, the 2017 is a full foot longer than the R60.

My kids would prob appreciate that. I do think the new model has lost some of its good looks. Its not unattractive its just not as Mini. I also am worried I might be nuts to pay that much for the outgoing model

I much prefer the newer BMW engines over the N18. That would make my decision easy beyond any other things like cabin noise, fit and finish, etc. More tuning options with plug in devices on the newer cars.

Good to know, Just recently started looking and I need to make a move soon.

Another vote for the F60 model. You're looking at $1000 for a car with much lower mileage, a much newer engine design, and better interior feel.

If nothing else, the engine is a big improvement. More powerful and smoother, but a little less raw. But also a bit roomier inside. Neither is a traditional Mini so... whatever

(I drive an F55 S; my spouse drives an R60 S. I like the power and smoothness of mine, but I do enjoy the buzz and steering feel of hers.)
