Hey everybody
I too fell in love with an Astro Black Mini. When I first saw it, I sold my blue one and made the deal happen. I flew to NY and drove home in this 2006 MCS JCW R52. She was a little rough and needed some TLC which I have been providing in healthy weekend doses. I have named him Baxter and he now has 31k on the clock. Here are some pics!

I can't find a web link to exterior photos so please check out my Garage in my profile until I can figure out how to post others.

Miichaelsmith,
You may want to look at Plastidip, I haven't tried it yet but many others have. I saw they had an option for a smoke color which might look really good on the Astro Black cars.
Good luck. Post pics.

+1 on plastidip! Just the regular black. Matches the wheel wells perfectly and I like it. Started to do it myself. Also did the wheel caps. Looks good with the rest of the wheel silver. Try it. $7 per can. If you don't like it, peel it right off. Good luck!

You should browse through the AB registry; a few owners have posted pics of their cars completely blacked-out, IIRC. That way, you will have an idea of what it would look like before putting the time into it.

Dr. Colorchip and clear spray acrylic. Dr. Colorchip is kinda time consuming to apply, but it's seamless when done correctly. The clear acrylic helps protect the paint from future chips. I would get the second tip after getting new chips on my freshly touched-up bonnet...

Too funny, yes it has been quiet. Well mines been sitting in a barn since October it's been a long winter. And we still have at least another month and a bit. Then it's going to take a long time to fix the massive potholes we developed over the winter, may be a short summer

Wheels
Don't paint the wheels, I know where you can get a great set of BBS R90 17" wheels that would look sweet on that ride
