Some cool pics in this thread
Hey fellow DS'ers, I guess I have WAY too much time on my hands - while hanging out this evening I went through this whole thread. I just wanted to compliment the many DS owners who posted pics here.
As a newbie still thinking how I'm going to "youify" Frankie, there are a lot of great ideas here - and beautiful cars.
It seems like that's one "activity" we DS Owners Club members can participate in would be to post our updated pics/mods on this thread. Just a thought.

I have been tryin to post a picture of Winston03 in my signature for quite some time but always get an error of too much stuff and being limited to x amount of code. I am not a computer wise person when it comes to this kind of stuff. If anyone can be of help, I would appreciate it and everyone can meet Winston.
You all be careful out there. Motor On!!

I am confused here. Your name is yellowminis and you have a Dark Silver MINI. Must be athe cold climate you live in. I added swoop stripes to my DS MINI and they look great. One of the vendors on the NAM site have them. They are similar to the new design for the Checkmate MINI, but are angled a little different. I had a pro apply them for me. I am one of the people without opposable thumbs.
Welcome to the club. I have had OURMINI for over 4 years and still love it. Just wish I could talk my SO into adopting a baby brother for it.

stripes
Hey YellowMiniS, great color choice for your return to MINI! Glad you found one you liked. As far as stripes go, I am also thinking about adding stripes(my car is a bit of a "blank canvas" at present), and have been looking around a bit. One car I found that I really like is the DS back on page 3 of this thread by "koolmini", some really great stripes that I think are from Cooper Flags.
Good luck!

If you think my name is confusing, wait until you read this:
I joined NAM in May 2003. At the time I was convinced I wanted a LY/B S with black stripes. By the time I ordered my car, I had fallen in love with the white top and wheels, so I got a BRG/W S in August/September of 2003. About a year later, my company announced they were closing our location, so I sold the car and bought a $3000 Miata. I never quit wanting a MINI, and have been working ever since to get myself financially secure enough to get one. Of course, once I can afford one again, LY is gone. But I also decided that DS/B is a much more mature color combo.
Acorin - thanks for the lead on those stripes. I like them. I'm trying to decide what look I want for the car. One side of me says get the chrome mirrors and add rally lights, eventually getting polished wheels, the other side says get the aero grills, black out the beltline, and eventually get anthracite wheels. Either way, the stripes need to tie it all together.
I'll probably go 'stripeless' until the Dragon this year, and I'm sure I'll see enough cars down there to help me make up my mind!

thinking about red accents
Hey YellowMiniS, I will clearly need to learn more about this whole "dragon" thing.
Another youification theme I've been thinking about is how/whether I could tastefully employ more red on my DS. I have to admit this all stemmed from staring at the GP parked in my dealer's showroom while I was finalizing the deal on Frankie. Those red caps seemed like they would look good on a DS car too, but I don't want to be considered a GP poser or anything. Let me know if in your stripe search, you come accross any good "red" ideas...

There are a couple pictures I've seen when searching around here with red on a dark color car. One had 'viper stripes' in a lighter silver, with red pinstriping on either side. Another had a red/black/white check pattern going.
I think I may have found the leading candidate for my stripes. I picked up a copy of MC2 magazine (the one with MINI Takes the States) in it, and toward the back there is a VERY small picture of a car with a checkered stripe that I like. If I remember correctly, it is black and the checks are small, 5 checks wide. That may be the look for me.
You live in VA, so you have no excuse NOT to be at the Dragon in May. If you haven't done it, well, you are missing out on a great part of the MINI owning experience.
