General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
When I posted pics of the car I had on order to Facebook, a friend from high school commented "Well, Pip Pip, Cheerio!" and Pip just stuck. I am surprised however how MUCH it has stuck. It's no longer "Are we taking my car or yours?" Its: "Are we taking Pip or the convertible" At home for the holidays, all my relatives wanted to "see Pip" not "see the new car" Kinda funny, but everyone seems to recognize how much personality our cars have.
I know what you mean. I'm surprised too. Everyone in the family refers to our new MINI as Hobbes now, just after a week. It just fit so well. Maybe they name themselves. Food for thought. Hmm....
My Countryman goes by the name Elf. She was born on 11/11/11, and the German word for eleven is "Elf". Besides, she arrived just before Christmas. She even has a pair of elf ears and a striped hat (not my idea). However, when she gets wild, she uses her roller derby name -- Crystal Beth.

I have never named a car. Always thought it was a silly idea.
Yeah. I enjoy reading about people's enthusiastic creativity, but my ex-wife used to name cars and it brings me back to a strange place so, no name. The Mini is just a Mini. Besides, my car hates being anthropomorphized.
Since I am the Zen Zombie I chose Mini Z while I was building. Cars do seem to have a personality of their own so this may change to something more fitting.
