Outdoor Car Cover

Hello,
It looks like the GP will have to be parked outside this summer (and possibly beyond)
I would be grateful if those who park outdoors and cover their GPs would care to share their experiences and/or recommendations... Cosmetic details aside, how does the oem cover compare (ease of installation/durability/degree of protection/price) to other brands (Cal Covers, etc.)
TIA

The OEM ones look pretty cool, if that counts. I don't have any experiance with car covers, but I imagine the OEM ones are more expensive than aftermarket.

we have an OEM conv. cover EXCELLENT !! the GP has the indoor cover which is also very nice. They are $$$$$ but durable... Check Morristown MINI - they have the best price on OEM stuff.

I contacted Covercraft, who is the major car cover manufacture and sells to most of the car cover distributors, and the Mini GP Cover is part number C17001. Covercraft only sells through distributors. The Covercraft website is www.covercraft.com if you want to obtain a list of distributors.
I suggest that you connect one of car cover distributors such as www.calcarcover.com to see which cover materials tare available in the C17001 pattern.

I received a reply back from Cal Car Cover. For an outdoor cover using the GP pattern C17001, they can make a cover with the Super[SIZE=2]weave or Noah materials. I believe the Noah is $180 and Superweave is $245 (one color) or $300 (two colors). It takes about 2.5 weeks for a custom cover.

You can aways use a bath tub . Filling in with warm water add little Simple Green (don't go crazy) and let it soak for a couple of hours.. you can probably use a sponge to clean up the tough spots.. empty the tub and fill full with clean water to rinse out the dirt and the cleaner... you might need to do this a couple of times and hang to dry...

OK I need some advise. My Mini lives outdoors....I do not have a garage. The day after I brought it home, NOAA called for a hail storm. I know someone that bought a new 2002 MC and a week later hail dinged up the roof. Luckily the hail storm missed us and left my mini unharmed. Do any of you think that an outdoor car cover would protect my mini from a possible "hail attack". I would appreciate any advise.....(other than building a garage).
