Added GP3 exhaust - Now looking at intake

So I’ve currently added the GP3 exhaust to my 2021 F56 Cooper S

Sounds so much better.

I am now onto the next thing which is intake etc. I have managed to find a GP3 intake. Which I’m hoping to fit. There are going to be people asking why? And to be honest so am I. 😂 but my thought is more air, some improvements in temp (small) and a little more bang. The ECU should be able to account for the added air flow without issue. I’m just not sure if things are going to sort of slot in.

I know that I am going to come across issues with fitment somewhere along the line.

Currently I know that I’m going to have an issue with the radiator cowl, and I’ve been able to source the correct GP3 part. The bonnet stops are going to have to go and be moved/replace as they will not fit when the air duct goes in.

I think that the depth of the air box will fit without issue, I’m now wondering if the diameter of the rear air duct will fit the standard pipe work on the back.

Some insight from a GP3 owner would be awesome.

I also have the GP3 exhaust, on my 2017 MCS.

Im going to install the Forge intake pipe, the one after the throttle body. Leave the factory intake.
Too much to modify to for the GP3 intake.

I think you're best bet for the intake side will be a bigger intercooler

Interesting that you’ve said the inter-cooler and the section after the throttle body. I wonder where the most point of restriction is on the MCS?

As I understand that we can easily reduce the incoming temperature. 100% a win. But wouldn’t increase the amount of air coming into the system? I guess the question is where is the best bang for buck. Air temp or air volume?

So just a very quick update. Pulled the trigger on the GP3 air box and it’s here.

I have a load of conflicting information from a load of sources, some of which are mini dealers. But alt least I should be able to feedback in some capacity.

Have no idea where this is going. Currently things look like they line up. And top down sizes are very similar. But I we will have to see.

I’m going to be posting out exact details with a sort of install and if there are any issues on going so we have a reference in the future.

Still waiting for some bits to arrive so fingers crossed 🤞

You should get in touch wit Clutch Wotan

Seems to know more about GP3 mods than anyone else here.

So just a small update on here.

GP3 intake fits in place with the extra parts ordered. But there are 2 issues. 1, bonnet doesn’t close due to fouling. 2 MAF diameter is too large. So that has been somewhat put on hold for now.

However, I have now finally got my intercooler fitted!

Feels sooo much better now.

The intake pipe on a GP3 must ne larger than others.
So you now need to find a GP3 hard intake pipe.

Come to think of it, this might send you down a rabbit hole, who knows if you replace the intake pipe, the turbo inlet might be bigger, the is the turbo larger opening??

Are you now going to replace your Turbo cold and hot side pipes to the larger ones too??

I also have a GP3 exhaust, but I only replaced the hard intake pipe with a Forge piece, left the filter assembly stock. Im content with that setup.

I just embarrassed an M3 yesterday!!
