Anybody know where I can find some affordable 16x6.5 wheels? I want to get into some H-stock competition and right now I'm on s-lites so I need to get rid of them and get back to stock size. All the aftermarket stuff I've seen is 16x7. I know 15" is probably better for auto-x but I'll be using the wheels for both street and auto-x so I want something bigger.

Try AK Monzas or used X-lites.

 

R84 (v-spoke) from Classic MINI Campus are $138/ea new, and weigh 17#. You can catch them on ebay or on here w/ rubber pretty cheap from time to time as well. You can fit a 215/50R16 onto them, giving you a 10% bigger footprint than stock and still retain the stock diameter.

Got my used R84 x lites for $325 used in good condition from another NAM member. Mounting Azenis RS 215/45ZR16 this week. All in all $700 for good sticky/weight combo, not bad at all.

at 25 lbs/wheel, why anyone would use S-lites (trying to be competitive) is beyond me. The Monza wheels are perfect - offset is +44mm, they're reasonably light, and you can stick 215/45-16 Azenis on 'em. When I think "AZENIS," I'm also thinking mmm yummy.

Depending on how 'low-buck' you want to keep your tire purchase, consider X-lites with grippy tires as suggested above. The tires alone will make SUCH a difference...

You need 16x6.5 wheels with offset from 40-45, to stay in HS.

 

I found a used set of Enkei RPO-1's on a Miata board. Got em for $350 shipped with some marginal tires:





They are 14.5 lb, 16x6.5 with 45 mm offset. I believe the centerbore is 73 mm and I got centering rings for them from Tire Rack. They are no longer produced but there are a bunch of used sets floating around.

Careful Chris. It's not 40-45mm offset, it's about 6mm (officially .25&quot either way from the stock 48mm. So you're looking at around 42-54mm as the range.

Ideally you'll want to go to a smaller number than the stock 48mm in order to widen your track and make more room for tire clearance from the strut.

I have the same RPO-1's Andy has, bought two sets just before they became unavailable. The Monza's are not much different, almost the exact same weight, offset, and of course size.
The other options right now are more expensive, being the SSR Comps or a set of custom Kodiaks (my father has a set, for sale as well).

When I was shopping for the RPO-1's, I found some 2nd gen Miata rims for sale. I believe those have the correct size, offset and bolt pattern, but the centerbore isn't quite right.

Rota wheels would be very cheap for you and very lightweight

 

The Miata wheels are 40mm offset. 2 mm too much.

are there any updates on this? I am thinking of the Monza's but like the look of the RP01's. I am looking for a stock wheel size in 16" dia. I would prefer to buy new. Maybe if the same gut that made the Monza's reads this he will make a set of something in a 5 spoke.

For the MC to stay in H-stock you have two rim choices-
In R81 holies and R82 eight spoke which are 15x5.5 et45 weights are 12 and 15.2 pounds respectively
And in R83 5 spoke or R84 X-lyte (standard on MCS) these are 16x6.5 with et50 and weights are 20.1 and 17.6 pounds respectively.

You'd need to be within about 6 mm of the et either way with any of these stock rims to stay legal.

Rotas wheels are good with rims from
15x6.5 in various styles et 38-40mm for the MINI at about 12 pounds
16x7 in various styles et 40mm at 14.5 to 16 pounds from Rspeed.net
But these sizes are not stock so while they fit MINIs they are not legal for stock class SCCA

For AK tires I'm not seeing availability of the 16" wheels and the 15 is 15x6.5 with et 38

The reason you are probably not seeing the 16" SSR type wheel from AK Tire is because they only ran off a set amount of them for people who pre-ordered for their MINIs. You may have to call them to see if they hae any sets left, or are willing to run off another batch of them.

 

Nzowheels.com also has some "monza" wheels. They have a 15" superlite that only weighs 11lbs. The black finish is $115ea.

They also have 16x6.5 with a legal offset for HS. I think the 16" are around $150ea depending on the finish. I got some 16" white from them and I love 'em!

I just ordered a set of 16" Monza wheels from a local shop in Silver Spring MD. They gave me the choice of two sizes of tires for the Falken Azenis. I was given a choice of a 215 or a 205 /45-16. I went with the 215s. I will be using the tires some on the street. The others are smaller and lighter but I do not think the diff is enough at my level to notice. They should be here before the Garfield's school. I did not want to take the school running on my Falken Ziex 512s.

I could not remember the size others here are using so I cheated and looked at Randy Webb's page. His wheel and tire package is may cost a little less (no sales tax), but shipping puts them out of range - he is after all on the other coast. The local shop has helped other autocrossers.

I have a slight bend in one of my AK Monza wheels. They were replaced for autocross by a set of SSR Comps. The AK MONZAs are now used for summer street and autocross fun runs (street tires running HS). If any one here knows of a couple for sale (silver) please let me know.
