Blacked out Nano

The missus saw a few cars at the Dragon with the blacked-out beltline and decided that she liked it. I've had some black-out tape sitting around for months - a gift from my cousin - but I didn't do the MOD. Now that it's on the car, I gotta admit that I think it looks better without the chrome trim...

Yep - with your color, taillights, and grille slats, the beltline blackout is an improvement IMHO. Doesn't work for everything (Blimey's Cool Blue and UJ motif works best with his existing chrome, I think.)

But in your case, I agree

When you said blacked out Nano, I thought you'd had some catastrophic electrical failure.

The black beltline looks nice.

LOL... thanks to YOU. I would have done the black-out months ago but thought that Kara would hate it. Imagine my surprise when she saw another MINI with the black beltline and promptly said "We should do that - and maybe even the door handles while we're at it!"

Great MOD with dramatic results for only about 40 minutes of work I think.

Now if I can just figure out how to get the ^%$#@! chromed roll-bar covers off, I'll be a happy man... I have a black set all ready to go on if I can ever get the other ones off. Grrrrrr...

I don't have a gas cap (cabrios have the body-colored door) but I might just do the handles - I'm holding out for an aftermarket replacement honestly... maybe one day.

As for Joey-modding, I dunno. I LIKE my complex, UFO-looking headlights. If I'm gonna bake them, it will be to add in CCFL rings. Maybe when I'm out of warranty...

Yaay! I found someone that will make me custom CCFL rings if I can get him measurements! Can someone either PLANNING to do the Joey MOD or (even better) who has their lights open right now please PM me? I need a few measurements and photos, for which I will be eternally grateful - maybe we can work out a quid pro quo lighting installation deal in exchange or something...

Spending time to black-out the chrome that you paid extra for is rather non-productive don't you think?
Then again, I'm a fan of chrome in all of it's shiny, god-fearing, patriotic-American glory.

Paid extra for??? These days they charge a premium for black. I know I would have paid a little more to have the car come without all the blingy stuff.

Dude, you would achieve a whole new level-up of lighting supreme pooh-bahness with CCFL headlight shizzle.

But if I can build what I'm thinkin about for MOTD6, I will at least be only 8-10 sublevels below you.

We're not worthy.

Men are idiots, I swear. I have stated from the day we bought the car that I don't like chrome. I don't like any chrome, and would be happy if none at all were on the car. I don't know what he's talking about, don't listen to him. Get back to work, Matt.

Yeah, I tried to convince Matt to custom build the car, but he insisted on buying one right off the lot so he could have it right away, and not miss out on any precious top-down weather. So yes, we did pay extra for the chrome, but that's the way it goes.
