Blacked-out Headlight Rings by Lagston

Just wanted to give some props to Lagston for doing my Headlight rings. I love them.

Where these painted or is this vinyl? I would love to obtain this look but would be concerend with chipping.

Same questions here. I've been looking for a way to de-chrome the headlights for some time. That looks excellent, especially with the DS.

I had mine painted for a while, but they chipped relatively quickly and had to be touched up every couple of months. I'm sure he'll answer your question, but Lagston wraps them in vinyl. I've had some rings he did on for a few weeks now and they seem to be holding up great. Now I just need to get brave and swap in the door handles he wrapped.

After I painted my rings, I applied some clear 3M protectant film to prevent chipping.

PredMini, nice look! It appears that you blacked out your side vent grilles? Is that just paint? Please share!

I got hit last month. A semi kicked up something on the interstate outside of Atlanta. It got one of my driving lights, dented my hood, chipped the bumper and disentigrated the hood scoop. While it was in the shop I installed my new Lagston trim rings. Which was nice because they had already removed the headlights for painting. I had them paint the scoop, A-Panel "S" grills, door handles, and a set of interior trim rings gloss black to match the roof. The red S is one of AC's dommed decals. I also took the gas cap and driving light shells to be powder coated at the same time. So the only chrome left is the Mini badges boot and bonnet.

Sorry for the HiJack!

Thanks for the props!

The badge is from MotoringBadges. They are in the Vendor directory. It's actually more of a grey or silver and black. I've got the white and black UJ on the sunroof.

I'll probably post a new thread in a couple of weeks. I've still got the "factory" stripes on the boot. We had them on the bonnet pre-accident. I've got some new stripes that are going to be installed on the 10th. I can't wait!

Aaron over at Outmotoring did it on his yellow 2007 coup... Looks OK - I think it makes the headlights look "squinty" (smaller) personally...

Can anyone care to attempt a DIY write up for removing and reinstalling the headlamp rings?
