Start Engine Button?

Anyone here install a "START ENGINE" button, like they have on the R56 or Honda S2000? If so, any problems starting the car?

Cause I'm thinking of using one of the toggle switches as my "Start Engine" switch.

I hear that there's a kit out there someplace that will let you do this, but I don't know anyhting more than that, I'm afraid... I saw a picture here of a center dash panel with the switch installed.

I'd like to know, though, if you find anything out...

Check out this thread. No P/Ns, but apparently it's an OEM retrofit.

I don't think the toggles will work, but Ian Cull (GBMINI) would probably know.

Moss MINI used to sell, not sure if they still do, a push button starter that fit in the cig lighter socket for 1st gen MINIs.

On the R56, do you have to continue to hold the button until the engine starts, or is a it a momentary "push and release", and then the electronics take care of the rest?

Just a momentary push and release. As a side note, push button starters make no sense with out the remote key fob.

I had a push start button on another car and if you stil lhave to use the key first it bacame just a real pain in the ***. With a proximity such as the R-56 it makes a lot more sence.

i don't see a point in the push start that moss mini has. you still have to put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position...kind of defeats the purpose in my eyes

What goes around, comes around... history will repeat itself if you live long enough.. I had a push button start on my 47 Studebaker PU. Why do we keep going backwards?
