Remove Passenger Seat?

How difficult is it to remove the passenger front seat and what kinds of tools will I need? (heated seats)
I have to pick up some lumber and I'd rather it not be sticking so far out the back end.

Thanks!!!

Im not positive, but I think its a huge pain due to the passenger airbags. If you disconnect the harnes, the warning light won't go away unless you go back to the dealer. But like I said, I'm not positive.

I know you asked a specific question that I am not answering, but I'm apologetic. Am just trying to help. You could rent a truck for half a day. One Home Depot near my home rents the truck by the hour right from their store. Perhaps you could rent a pick up or utility van from UHaul.

Yea, I do have a sun roof I'll just let it stick out the boot like I did last time, I hate driving trucks. Get one of those goofy little orange flags for the stuff. Thanks! :D

If you put the passenger seat all the way forward, and remove the head rest, a typical bi-fold door will fit without sticking out the back! The lumber fit no problem too.

Do you mean remove it permanently? Physically all you need to do is unplug the wires underneath and remove the 4 bolts that attach the seat rails to the floor.

The problem is that when you turn on the car, the computer tries to detect the airbag and seat belt tensioner, and will trigger the airbag warning light. It won't reset itself if you put the seat back in -- it will stay on until reset with a diagnostic tool at a dealer or shop. I believe that for 2004 and earlier models, the computer can be fooled with a resistor in the circuit, but much more difficult for 2005+.

I think folding the seat al the way forward, without the head rest, would be the best option too. Get some vinyl rug runner material to keep the wood from marring the back of the seat.

I knew a guy who loaded a bunch of fence posts in his Ferrari, it had a roof panel that could be lifted out and stowed away. He put one end of the posts in the passenger foot well and had the other ends sticking out the roof. They didn't stick out too far.
