functional middle aero grill installation; nuts to pal nuts

there a series of relatively large holes all the way through the bumper in the area where the middle grill piece attaches:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...00&ppuser=4821

since i have my license plate covering part of the lower grill, i decided to remove the plastic covering these holes. (it almost looks like they are there for doing this!)

instead of cutting slots in the plastic, i trimmed the middle aero piece skirts to make tabs that fit into the existing holes in the plastic. (alas, no picture.)

when removing the upper grill, i ended up breaking off about half of those stupid pal nuts. i held on the aero replacement part with a small blob of Amazing Goop on each of the plastic stumps and a short lengths of tygon tubing forced over the stumps after the grill was on the car. (picture later.)

Probably not very well.... Theres still quite a bit of airflow hiting a flat surface with a couple small holes in it. It isnt a recipe for good airflow...

Since the original middle grille has a slot for air to get through, why not? Couldn't hurt, might help. Nice job of modding the aero grille to fit!

3c,

thanks for the compliment.

here's a shot of one of the 'rubber' grill retainers with the dab of goop:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...=50088&cat=500

it doesn't show well in the photo, but the tubing i.d. is smaller than the stump. this holds the tubing in place while the goop dries.
