When a project is cursed from the get-go...
About two months ago, I ordered a set of Hella 2500s and the brackets from OutMotoring to install them with. I got the lights themselves (described as "new in box") for a steal on eBay - around $30.
The brackets arrive.
The lights do not. I email the seller. He's been without internet and didn't have my address (never mind it was on the checkout page, AND on both the envelope and check that I mailed, that he promptly cashed). I set him my address. Still no lights. I email again. He says the package got sent back to him, can I send him my address AGAIN. I do. Still no lights.
Finally I threaten to stop payment on the check. Lo and behold, the lights show up via Priority Mail two days later (yesterday). 2 months almost to the day of the auction.
Me -> Excited to put the lights on!
So me, hubby, and hubby's friend (a service tech) head out into the garage with all the stuff. We open the box to the lights and...parts are missing. The 3-way switch is missing, down to the connector. For some unknown reason, the ground has been stripped from the relay, and the screws that hold the wire plate to the back of the light have also been removed, leaving the wiring danging in the wind from the back of the light.
Oy.
So we go to Home Depot with a list of all the things we are missing. We also need stainless steel screws to mount the brackets. We come home, we get the brackets on, yay.
We get the first light on - YAY it's starting to look like something. Time for a soda break.
I'm in the house, and I hear *CLUNK* "SH*T!"
I walk back out to the garage...second light has fallen on the floor and the lens is shattered.
I give up.

Its easy to say, and I have been known to say the same things, but all the "shoulda, coulda, woulda's" in the world don't do anything more than make you feel even more foolish! I feel badly for you. Its usually the most trusting people who are taken advantage of. (not the proper way to end a sentence, I know). Try not to let it drown your good nature! Hang in there and the lights will shine brighter than ever!

Nah, it'll be okay.
The seller says he feels bad and is going to return my money. He maintains he never took anything out of the package, and he seemed apologetic. His feedback is good, and he apologized profusely for all the problems and I ended up apologizing for being a big b*tch about it. I do think he dropped the ball on the shipping but I don't think he knew anything was wrong with the item itself.
So see, I still have my good nature!

Sorry to hear about all the hassle. I'm to the point in life where new is just easier and easier is good. Hope the installation looks good. Driving lights are on my maybe someday list. Of course, for some reason a PC for detailing has slipped it's way onto the list now... that list just keeps growing sheesh.
