No offense...you're kind of opening yourself up to some radiator/condensor damage by some offending rocks/birds/papers etc. I wouldn't personally do it...but, it's your MINI, so rock on, do what you want!

Not a good idea for the reasons mentioned above. Might look cool, but keep the Bars Leak handy.

I had a buddy who did it for a while....unfortunately i never took pics. Maximini is definitely right about the bumper support look pretty ugly under there.....and really the rest of the bumper just looks unfinished without the grill.

Not to mention paint will block radiator fins and otherwise retard heat transfer.

I changed the lowest grill on my non S, but didn't take off the grill completelly. The stock one was a little more "square" than the one I got now, and was actually less open (if there is another way of explaining it, please let me know) than the one I did. Got some pics if it helps...

Before:

After:

Just used some regular "chicken wire" found at Home Depot, and traced the original grill onto it, then cut it, made some small holes for the little tabs, and placed it with some adhesive around the tabs to make sure it stayed put. Been there for about a year now, no problems... And I'm pretty sure it does let more air in, but I wouldn't know how to prove that.

I know the upper grill works because the AC is now colder than when I had the stock "slots" in the upper grill area.

Sorry for the somewhat confusing post. lol.

Take care,
Leo.

The second picture is proof that it is working.

Based on the bugs on the After picture, your car is going 30-40 mph faster now.

Haha, forgot to mention that. The picture was taken after a 400 mile road-trip, sorry 'bout that...

Darn, 13, you need to travel in less populated (by bugs) neighborhoods! Whoa--I've never seen that many bugs on one car. That's whack...
