Interior/Exterior Wheel gap

Wheel gap
All these threads about lowering to reduce wheel gap.
This leads to sub-optimum spring/dampener ratios, pogoing, premature shock wear, harsher ride charateristics.
If the reason to drop is for looks (and maybe 90% are dropped for looks), wouldn't it be better to simply have a better looking aftermarket fender skirt - one that reduces the wheel/tire gap?

pogoing? nope... none whatsoever here. harsher ride? adjustable dampers. premature shock wear? bilsteins for the win
a better looking aftermarket fender skirt? uhhhh... sounds ugly
