Smoked out arch lights...

I am considering ordering the arch light smoking film from Outmotoring and wanted to get some feedback. Even the picture on the site doesn't like THAT great, but the whole replacement lights that I've seen on other sites look pretty cheesy.

How do they look after the install (I know that a couple of people have them)? And how hard are they put on? I know you need to use a squeegee and such...any problems with bubbling or anything?

Thanks in advance!

i just used 10 dollar tinting film from autozone. its a pretty simple task. i just cut a rectangle of film, peeled off the backing and slowly applied it to the light, pushing out any bubbles with my finger. then i just trimmed the excess with a razor. took me 10 minutes.

here in VA, they need to be the proper color so tint fails. the euro arches would be a better solution as the fact there are none at all will raise less eyebrows still....pulling tint off every year is cheaper than new arches

years ago on my Prelude, we pulled the bumper signals out and roughed them with 300 grit, then sprayed with india ink, promptly wiping them down. This dyed them smoked grey (still blink orange). Didn't pass VA inspection. Had to sand the dye off to pass. I think Duplicolor sells something like this now....'Nightshades' or something. I think I saw it on Outmotoring too.

I just got some on Friday from Outmotoring for my R56, they are not as dark as the Alta ones I had a few years ago for my 2003, but I really like them, I would call them a smoke tint rather than almost a black out like the Alta ones were.

Super simple install, spray bottle with slightly soapy water and a squeege or credit card, and exacto or razor blade - 10 minutes tops for all 4.

Thanks all for the input! I'll probably add it to my cart on Out Motoring before I checkout!

I got the Night Shade stuff the other day. Tried it on my side repeaters, and it sucked. Not sure what I did wrong, but it came out looking crap. I did all the prep and post work that people have suggested, but no luck.
Just FYI.

I'm happy with mine, also the tail tint.

Those are not recent pictures of my MINI, but you can kind of see...

i did the outmotoring last year. looks great, super easy install. when you are done, cut off the tabs at each end that are there to provide you a "handle" while positioning them. i sweated the edges being perfect while i was installing, but honestly, even at just 3-4 feet away, you can't see the edges at all, they just look good and mostly disappear unless you shine a light on them or turn on your own lights.

They should be here by the end of the week, so we'll see how it turns out!

If you are talking about mine, yes it's the film (both arches and tails) from Outmotoring.

I put it on this morning...I'm relatively happy with them overall. I was hoping for something a little more "blacked out," but I think the only way to achieve what I want would be to go with the euro arches with no lights...

The ones on EBay are too clear and these just subdue the color a bit. Oh well...for $20, it was worth it
