Yeah, it wasn't too long before then.

A few years ago I was involved in a grass roots effort to get a monument made to the track and the drivers that lost their lives. There was a design and we even started raising money. But then we found out that there were copyright issues associated with the RIR name and track. So while the monument was never made as far as I know, there is now a museum dedicated to the track, http://riversideinternationalraceway.com/index.html.

Here is a cool article from SpeedTV, http://www.speedtv.com/articles/life...omotive/39006/.

RIR is where I saw my first road racing. I'll never forget the first time I saw a gaggle of 935s blasting up through the esses.

I just think I would feel silly putting one of these on my car if I had never driven the Nurburgring.

I grew up in Riverside (Rubidoux more specifically) and we used to go out and park on the other side of the 60 up on Box Springs Rd and watch the races for free with binoculars. I loved the 935s. I plastered my bedroom with pics and articles from Car and Driver about the DP 935. If I ever hit the lottery I will own an 80's era slant nose 911.

Disagree! There are thousands of Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo,... fans with their caps, jackets, stickers, licence plate frames, flags, decals,... and they don't own those rides! They are ONLY fans!

I would feel silly if I had for example a beer sticer on my ride. That's dumb!
