Aero Kit Regrets?

I'm thinking about buying the aero kit and am wondering if anyone has every regretted their decision to get it. One of my concerns is about how it will wear over time. With the stock black plastic trim all around I don't worry too much about small snow drifts, little stones that hit it, ect. Am I going to become a freak about keeping it looking good?

why would you freak out anymore than if it were the standard bumpers and trim?

Really depends on your attitude about it.

In 15k miles I've had the bumper cover painted twice. Granted one time is from mods done to it. I've beat mine to he11 and back, been up Pikes Peak, a few off track excursions and some really steep gravel drives at MOTD. It's going to get banged up on the day to day ride. The face is fairly flat and stuff doesn't bounce away harmlessly, it digs right in. So long as yuo know that it's going to get a beating, like the standard one would too, you just keep patching and few years repaint.

how about is the material of the aerokit different from the stock bumpers? will it last just as long in terms of shape and deformation, does it crack easier, etc.?

The standard bumper has black plastic trim along the bottom 3 inches. The aero kit is painted in this area and, I would imagine, won't be as forgiving over time.

no regrets but im glad i did the clearbra early on.

also clear bra the sideskirts near the rear wheel arch around the vent.
that lip gets chipped.

also clear bra the black portion of the sideskirt facing towards the front
tire (where mud flaps would go). these areas are prone to chips even
if you're careful.

I love mine but it's a little chewed up. I had mine repainted once because the paint was flaking off (crappy dealer paint shop) and now the paint is flaking again... (second crappy dealer paint job)

Just have a good shop paint it and you are g2g.

Did you get the oem clearbra or is this something you did yourself?

On my 04MC I had the kit installed upon delivery. I got the clear bra. I never had a problem with the paint messing up. Strange thing, but when I wrecked him the paint under the clear bra didn't even crack. But the car was totaled.

I'm aggressively searching for a primed aero kit for under $1000 or a pre-painted black aero kit for around $1500. So far no luck...

Just picked up a factory pre painted aero kit in Pepper white from Jayson at "Classic MINI Parts" $1000.00 + shipping ! I don't know if they have black but, I thought this was a hell of a deal. Can't believe the Wife let me do it. I guess this will have to count as my Christmas presents for the next 4 years LOL.

If I could only have one modification to my car, I would have just the Aero Kit. Completely changes the look of the car in my opinion.

Not my dealer here in San Diego. They quoted me $1250.00 just primed and said they new nothing about any deal going on. That's why I go else were for my parts. They lost a deal on my JCW steering wheel and now an aero kit. That's ok with me !

Does anyone know if we can order the front and rear only - already painted? Maybe I will just call classic.

The Aero side skirts are significantly lower than the stock S skirts. I cracked the front of one of my skirts when I took out a large cone during a driving exercise and had to do some body work to repair it.

If you Auto-X a lot, this might cause you some additional repair concerns. The side skirts are my favorite part of the Aero kit, so I think that it was worth it for me.

edit: ^^^ are you running on stock suspension or something modified and lower? I can't remember.

I just confirmed this new deal with my motoring advisor. He's checking the price for me and I'll more than likely be ordering today. Couldn't order it prepainted in jet black I wish these things wouldn't happen when money is tight but I am NOT going to miss out on the aero kit

Exactly! Hopefully my statement rolls over before this hits it (should do) and I won't have to pay for it until January. Otherwise it will be due first week of december along with all the other stuff I bought last month. I don't like paying interest so I'll pay it in full and it will hurt a bit

So with this special deal, what prices are being quoted for the aero kit?

Primed kit $625 + Tax for me. Regular is $1250 for a primed kit. They still have Indy Blue and BRG prepainted kits available, but they are more I think.
