Anyone else replace their steering wheel...

Anyone else replace their steering wheel without airbag?

I personaly like the Sparco racing steering wheel over JCW, but at the same time, I prefer to have an airbag. That said, I'll just drool over this guys "race look" setup.

A few of us have done this. There is a recent thread about this very subject. Take a look for the Quick Release Steering Wheel thread.

Here's mine, not Sparco, but Momo, however, toying with the idea of a Sparco wheel with the flat bottom and the stopwatch built in.

I would love to do this but I believe I would not be able to pass inspection here in Massachusetts. I also think there is a DOT fine for removing safety equipment, a episode of pimp my ride got a hefty fine for removing an airbag in the steering wheel.

Anyone know for sure?

Just my opinion, but it is probably best to do this mod AFTER installing the full roll cage. Otherwise leave the safety equipment on a street car.

You will Install 2 3.3ohm resistors. Just make sure you remove the battery before taking the airbag off and putting those resistors on before connecting the battery. I did not do that so therefore I have an airbag light on .

I will take a pic of how those resistors look like installed so you get an idea.

Do you have the ohm ratings for ALL the airbags? I need to do this on each airbag since I dont have any...lol. And my inspection is coming up in MAY....

What are they using as the hub to attach the steering wheel? I have not found the mounting hub for MOMO for the MINI.

Do you put them in parallel or series? I used 3.3 ohm when I replaced my seats didn't know the steering wheel was the same.
