You should get the 05-06 chrome surround....it really smooths it out when you used to have the 02 - 04.

Blackout looks good on there.

I put the smooth surround on mine when i did the black slats:

Rally, did you have to buy a whole new grill, or were you able to just buy the surround?

well i bought a whole new grille because i wanted to paint it black but didnt want to paint the original grille...just in case i didn't like the black. So i don't know if you can get just the surrounds. Give the dealer a call and see what they say.

I also did it because the 02-04 coopers came with 4 slats on the top grill which will not fit the 05-06 smooth surrounds which are cut to only fit 3 slats on the top grille.

Looks Great!I'm thinking of doing it to mine;haven't seen it on a '05 BRG S.And I am envious of your clean garage,too!

Looks really good - I blacked mine out w/ vinyl tape about 2 months ago & I've been really happy with it.

What paint did you use? Any chipping? Been wanting to do this for a while now so I may do it over the christmas break.

Just some random rust-oleum for cars.....lots of chipping...but it'd been on there for 4 years.

i used krylon fusion satin black. so far it has no chips and i run on the hwy are back country roads alot.
