Aero Grill vents

Why does the Aero grill not have entire grill area vented (open)? Is it just for Auxilary lights? Well, I just could not toloerate them not being open. This is not a mod but a good way to spend an hour afterwork before sundown
So anyway I covered the engine compartment with a tarp and got my drill.

Began drilling carfull not to touch actual vent just the back.

Now in the morning I gotta file the roughness out and sand the back of it. I thought I dammaged it, but it was all just debris from grill.

i believe that area is not vented because the air going in there won't go any where. The radiators and parts you want air to flow across in this car are located right in the center and are not as side as the grills would lead you to believe.

why didnt you just take it off the car? wouldnt that be easier to do that on like the floor or a work bench instead of the car? I like the idea it would be similar to the M7 with it being completely open.

Right.

There's a reason why just the middle is open, the radiator and condenser are the same width(give or take) as the grille opening. Same with the lower grille, too.

I opened up the passenger side of my non-Aero grille, but that was get air to the intake manifold.
