Looks clean. Can't wait to see it all inside the car!

I passed by a fabric store on the way home from school/work and bought some faux suede. Needless to say it doesn't feel/look the same, I wouldn't say quality is bad but I want it to look OEM so I'm looking for something that looks more like Alcantara. But, it isn't one of those ultrasuedes meant for upholstery. I found the color I want if I were to use Alcantara (compared swatches), it's a light black. Gonna do some shopping around and see what I come up with.

Took the downtubes off to wrap them in the microfiber suede that I bought. What adhesive have you guys used? Brand and model would be nice as my experience with upholstering is limited.

Thanks for all your help!

Any ideas on how to cut the suede for the downtubes? I have an idea and hopefully it will work, but I'm not sure. We'll find out lol..

I would do one piece and cut as I go. Take your time, be patient, and let things dry.
I thought about that but I want to do it like the JCW with contrast stitching on the front and the crease on the front as well. I came up with the following and tried it out with paper first and made the template. Outline the tube on either side and start with 2 pieces. Sew the outside edge together, this will create the curve that downtube has and minimize, although it should eliminate, any buckling. Then do the usual cutting out of triangles to get the edges tucked away nicely.

Have to go buy the glue and string for stitching it together. Need a nice thick string and a color that closely resembles Lapis Blue.

I think this would be nicer, doesn't look so much like a comforter for a bed lol. I'd want it to look just like this but blue suede with silver stitching.

Seats from the Aston Martin DBS concept:

Very nice. I wish I didn't have so many college classes. It'll pay off in the end. This is what is keeping me from the Dragon. Exams are that week and the following week. :( Glad you enjoyed you time off so far.

BTW: I saw you engine and now I'm even more jealous. HaHa, I want to paint my engine bay also.

Haha vacations are always nice! I'm jealous lol. Makes me wish it was summer.

But while you were in Jamaica soaking in the sun, I finally made some progress. Actually just today lol...

Had my mother stitch up the downtubes today, the idea I had worked perfectly. But, my mom messed up slightly on the stitching, no biggie though, it'll go on the car as is.

Gotta glue the suede to the downtube sometime this week and hopefully I don't mess up on that lol. Should be back in the car by the weekend, I hope. Btw it's black suede with blue contrast stitching. This is just for the downtubes and possibly the leather arm rest pads on the door handles.

I know where i can buy weave that matches the jcw stuff i already have, and want to wrap alot of stuff. Those look so amazing. Im jealous, and i dont say that often

hahah, i see we were posting at the same time. How long did it take you to lay that up? One of these days i hope to try to lay some, but i dont think it will work to well. Ive never had any luck doing glass, so i dont know if want to try fiber or not. excellent work tho, looks really shiny and deep, even in the pics.

ah, thats amazin. i was looking at some stuff that is paper thin and flexible, but i dont know if you would be able to get to conform to bends that tight, i doubt it. is it just the bare fiber than you have to clear it, or is that done already as well?

Wow your interior came out SICK. Saw the pics of the rear panels installed over at m|u and WOW. The blue suede you used matches the Lapis Blue leather perfectly (at least in the pics it does).

I see you're going with blue suede in the recess of the door pocket also. If you could, can you take some pics of how you're taking the door panels apart in order to get back there? Thanks!

Oh and, wrap the downtubes, I'll be finishing up this weekend but I think they'd look sick in blue in your car.

Just got back from Home Depot, bought some DAP Gel Formula Contact Cement (thanks Indigo), some gloves and a brush. Going to attempt downtube #1 now. Hopefully it comes out good...

I thought doing it close to an open door would be good enough, boy was I wrong, gotta do this stuff outside lol. My kitchen smells like the adhesive and I have a headache. 1 downtube down and installed, 1 more to go.

Here are pics of the driver's side downtube right after I wrapped it, it's in the car now, can't wait to see it tomorrow, and hopefully my car won't smell too bad. I was just too anxious to wait.

Wutcha think? Sorry for the pics, iPhone is the only camera I had with batteries lol...

get your regular camera fixed and take some day shots. Your car will be a fume bucket in the AM....open the windows at least 30 minutes before driving it. I don't put my parts in the car for at least 24 hours after I am done with them, even then, they still let of a lot of fumes. Usually for a couple of weeks or so, then the toxic smell dies down
I hear you, I always drive with the windows down so I figured the smell wouldn't last more than a couple of days. I hope that's the case.

Pics in day-time tomorrow.
