I was a little bored and did "mini cooper" parts search on ebay. I found some cool headlights.
I really like the black interior and halo but I don't see myself spending $300 on headlights with all the other cool mods higher on my list but...

First what changed on my 06 that prevents these from fitting?

Second are these really pieces of junk, has anybody bought them?

 

Interesting. Notice that the HID lamp is not lit inthe demo photo, and that there's no ballast box for a HID. I also don't know what "will not work for those with stock HID lights" means. From the wiring in the photo, these are pretty normal halogen lamps in a blacked out mini shape housing. Would look cool, but wouldn't work like OEM HIDs.

Buy them and tell us how they work!

 

Ive also considered these lights, just not sure of fitment. had same issue looking for taillights, said they were for 02-05, i got them for my 06 only thing i had to change was moving reverse light down to where fog light is. Id love to here from anyone who got these headlights, other option was to take mine apart and paint inside black. tought to do though.

These are halogens designed to look like the OEM HIDs, they cant use the factory Xenon lights.

 

I love them, but I've only had them for about a month, so no news on how they'll hold up. I am a little bit weary. You can definitely tell the difference between the quality of the lights if you hold them next to the factory lights. Also, they are a PITA to install and don't fit properly. Do also note that even the ones that say that they have black headlight rings included DO NOT. I emailed around and everyone said that they do, but none of them actually do. I had to sand them, paint them, etc. It was annoying. All that said, check mine out...they get looks everywhere:

 

I have also considered these. I think they look great, especially on your black car. Do you have any larger resolution pictures? Night shots?

 

Yeah, I just shrunk those pics down for this board. I can try to post some higher res pics. No night shots yet. They don't seem to come out all that great. The halos look awesome though

The rings are chrome. There are a few pics of them with the chrome rings in the other headlight thread referenced above.
