Pics of Painted Fender Flares?

I was thinking of painting my fender flares either body color or black. Wondering if anyone had any pictures of this on their mini?

I began researching painting the Flares once I got my 05.
Though it made for a much cleaner look!
On the red coops I've seen it looks slick as well.

I'm a huge fan of body colored flares on a black mini. Yours looks awesome. I'm hoping it looks as good on a CR.

Did you have to finish the fender pieces in a primer? I would suspect the materials the fenders are made of would not paint very well as is. Also, did you paint them yourself or did you take them to a shop? Also, if a shop painted them, how much would I expect to pay?

Since the rack panels have a texture the fenders were sanded down smooth, hit with a self etching primer and then painted to match with a final clear coat.
once the panels have the primer on them the paint sets right up.
I had them painted at a shop 2 years ago here in manhattan.

I don't know how the cost compares, but I'm pretty sure that Minspeed sells already painted kits too.

There's loads of information on here regarding painting the flares, search under "painted arches" and you'll get everything from pictures to DIY's. Good luck, if done properly they look great!

It's listed under R53, but it looks like they only offer them for the R56 for some reason...

Since you asked and I've seen the side view too I'll interject. Now this is what I like and not to everyones tastes.

I'd not paint the arches on your car. With the other black accents, headlight rings, door handles, gas gap etc, I think it the black arches help to define the lines to the car. With the roof also being black I think body color arches will make it look quite odd. You will also need to pain the lower trim on the bumper above the splitter to make it look right. Doing that, in my eyes, will lose a lot of the fine detail of your MINI.

I'm not a huge fan of those wheels on your car. I'd be looking for something that visually lightens that area. Right now the arches, tires and wheels combine to make a black hole, in that photo. Possibly it's just the quality of the photo too.

Thats my 0.02

Edit...

I'd also do something about the radiator showing through the grills. Either some black screen or the Bugguard for Beemers piece. Then spray any other exposed metal with a rattle can matte black.

It's all in the details...

Gloss black gloss black gloss black.

Not enough people consider it, and it looks stellar.
