Yeah, what i meant to say was did anyone just do that to ring around the xenon and not the rest of the housing. Thats what I'm looking to do because the black in the housing would not look right on my astro. Maybe anthracite to match my wheels, but for now I just wanted to see pictures of the xenon ring painted only, if any at all. Thanks for clearing it up zimbo.

This thread just died out... No one has tackled this mod lately? I'm waiting for my damn headlight rings to show up that I order a month ago from MiniSpeed to take new pics of my setup. One that I did notice is my headlight beams are a little off I need to adjust somehow to even them out.

I am doing it on Tuesday! Well, I'm having my expert paint guy do it so the responsiblity lies in his hands!

He does all types of exotics headlights so I will be giving you guys an update next week. He told me he pops them in the oven to do them too, but they have a temperature controlled machine thing they use in the body shop so who knows how it works, I'll try and see if I can snap some shots while he does it...

It's going to be a chili red xenon ring with astro black housing...he is also going to black the mini logos on the car and the cooper badging...my car will be officially de-chromed completely. YES!!

What type of paint is he going to use foro the light housing? (i.e. i think that is the correct terminology. . .the part that is usually painted black)

IMO this mod makes the MINI look more like a MINI beast. The first reaction people usually tell me that it looks meaner than the stock chrome appearance.

Updated sig in the works

Ok so it's been a couple of weeks since I did the Joey Mod. Tonight I noticed that I have a little condensation on my lower driver side headlight. Should I open up the back ports where you change the bulbs to release air?

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but the stock headlight assembly should have an opening in the housing to allow air to escape. They're not fully sealed, or else they'd be under pressure once your headlights warm up.

I say just let the headlights go through a few full heating and cooling cycles and you should be fine.

I had this happen to my last car after i did the same mod. I was under the impression that the excess moisture was from the curing of the paint. Once the paint fully cures, you'll be done with moisture, unless you did a really bad job of re-sealing the headlights.

Heres my joey mod. One thing you gotta remember to do is wipe the inside of the lens clean b4 you put it back together. haha. I also got a little black on the chrome for the light. I gotta open them back up to wipe the insides out. Im very pleased with the result but i will end up going back into them eventually.

So i posted a new thread with this question and i'm gonna do the same here.

I tried to pull my headlights off today and the bolt closest to the fenders on each headlight won't come out it just spins. Whatever is on the back of it isn't attached right. Has anyone else come across this?
