Wiper scoops

I dont think it really makes any difference, but do those aftermarket wiper scoops do anything besides look good? The ones with the openings facing the front.

You speaking of the Orciari Scoops/Cooling Vents/Vent Cowls(Whatever you wish to call them. ) I believe

Picture:

Personally don't have them but looking at an engine bay the only thing you really be pushing air into is the brake lines and etc. The section where they would be located is partioned off from the rest of the engine bay. Hope this helps ya.

EDIT: Unless you have an MCS and are adding an aftermarket intake.

Examples Here:
(Sorry for the size, only good example on Google Images I found...)

MINI Cooper

MINI Cooper S

On an S the cowel can be opened up with an aftermarket CIA. The idea is to allow more air to the intake. No battery in the way.

I have the orcinis and while I love the looks - can't imagine they would do much. Its a negative pressure zone, they don't sit up very high and the opening is small.

Oh, i see. Im looking at them for my 03S, with an aftermarket cai. So, might they possibly do anything in the way of power since they somewhat direct air? Prob. minute anyway.

I did a little search here on NAM. It appears the people are claiming no real functionality and that the OEM ones are actually better.

There is a possibility that they may draw in more cool air towards your intake, but i doubt the amount it draws in will be so beneficial that you'll see a difference.

I have the Orciari Cowl Scoops on my car.
They do draw more air into the engine compartment.
It really only affects the driver side since the CAI has opening into that compartment,
I am running a Dinan CAI which has the lower hole into the airbox as well as an upper opening in the rear well of the engine bay..
With this intake it actually helps!
And adds a nice styling element to the hood..
They also took about 2 1/2 months to get here

Also, for people in cold/snowy environments, the vent covers can act as an actual covering to prevent snow from being pushed down into the cowl vent. This is especially true for people running an open CAI, like the ALTA. If a significant amount of snow gets packed down, it could possibly lead to water the engine (if the snow melts).
