you have to take the headlights out of the hood ( three 8mm nuts on each light) and go at it from the back tabs holding the rings on carefully with a screwdriver. there are little pieces of double sided tape holding the rings in place, just tug gently and they will come off. The're stuck in there pretty tight so you will struggle with it a little. I think the tabs you want to pry at are on the bottom, the top ones are different and wont come off.
How are you painting it if you mind me asking?
i have this paint that is used for painting outdoor furniture, i used it on my lower grille trim and it has lasted really well. im going to sand, pryme and then hit it with 3 cats of that and a sealer. how long should this take
I taped around the ring on the baody to make sure i didn't scratch it.
Gently pry the ring up slowly. You will need to take off the washer piece first.
There are tabs around the ring and some double sided tape. Just be careful and take your time.
be careful of the sticky tape! mine was on so much that i destroyed all the tabs on the bottom of the rings :( you might want to try and slide a thin blade between the ring and the light first, to kill the tape, and then go at the tabs.
