OK - I've seen it done, but the method escapes me!
I've just received my Whalen Shift Machine, and want that baby on NOW! What's the easy way to remove the stock shift ****?
Thanks - I'm anxious!!!

MGCMAN: Good suggestion - but my car is currently stationery in our undeground garage. Wheelies are often frowned upon by the landlord!!

They just pop off. Pull the **** straight up (without twisting) and try really hard NOT to hit yourself in the face!

Rygold,
Which model did you get? Polished or satin finish? I love the look of the Whalen too.

Just a quick heads up: watch out for your sunroof. You don't want to break the glass with the flying shiftknob!

Satin finish - it'a amazing! And is it ever heavy!
You guys were right - with the right force it just popped off! I did, however, bang my head against the roof as I avoided a self-inflicted black eye!
Now I have to leave work early and go SHIFTIN'!!

If you grab the **** with your hands, and then brace your leg under your arm, you can pop it off up pushing your arm up with your foot... and then you don't peg yourself in the head, nor does the **** go off flying somewhere....
