Interior/Exterior Euro Shelf - Yes or No ?
#1
Ok, for those of you who have the Euro shelf under your steering wheel.
I have a few questions
Did you install it yourself ?
Do you ever hit you leg on it ?
Do you think a very short woman (me, I'm 5'2" would hit her leg
because her driver seat is close to the dash area?
Would you recommend it?

Yes, it was dead easy. 10 minutes tops. You will need the proper Torx screwdriver to put in the two screws.
I think it actually sets back further than the stock knee bolsters so you would actually have more knee room.
It adds storage area for small items. I like it.

Yup, altho I recommend the thread somewhere here that has step by step PICTURES of the install! It saved me some grief when I was able to refer to the pic, and figure out my alarm box needed re-locating.
>>Do you ever hit you leg on it ?
I'm 6'2", so I sit farther back than you, but it's never been a problem.

Nah, it's farther away from the seat than the US spec thingie.
>>Would you recommend it?

>>That's the manual leveling switch on a xenon equipped euro model, I believe.
>>
That would have been my guess. I think that would be really cool to have! Think about it: when you're behind a really cute MINI, you could eye her up and down with your Xenons!!!
Pebbles--what on EARTH is that crazy switch you've got in there!?!?

I like my euro parcel shelf. It's a ten minute or less install if you've done it before. For the first time it might take longer just to figure out how to do it. I have no trouble with it hitting my knees and you should be fine.
My screws did work loose on one side of the dash so check them periodically.
One of the pictures showed a switch with a light icon- I wonder if that was for the rear fog light on and off switch.

Pebbles, I can't believe I waited so long to get the parcel shelf! It adds a lot of usable space to the car, and really opens up the driver's side of the car. If you really take off in a hurry, you can induce something to fall off of it into your footwell, but mostly things stay very well put. I actually found the install to be a bit on the tricky side, but in retrospect it seems like it should have been pretty easy. The pics that Nuvolari posted are very helpful. One of us could definitely walk you through it.

The button on the left is for rally lights. The parcel shelf has a cut out for the rally light switch, unlike the standard US cover that had to be cut by the dealer to mount the switch. If you don't have rally lights, there is a plate to cover the hole.
Someone else said something about needing to do a little cutting. Not at all. This is a direct replacement.

Yes, Pebbles. The Parcel shelf is neato torpedo. It opens the space up beneath the wheel and gives you storage, I have a cd wallet that fits perfectly and I whacke my garage door opener apart and wired it ti a momentary on switch and put it in the hole on the left ( for the euro rear fogs) MY garage door opener is now hidden and works great. I really like the shelf.

>>Ants, why don't you keep your EZ Pass on your windshield? I've always wondered why people don't just stick it on and leave it alone (like I and I think most others do). Just curious.
I dont like the way it looks on the windshield.
I keep my EZ pass, driving gloves and cell phone up there.
