Interior/Exterior Lowering the MINI soon...and I have a question.....

An alignment specialist can adjust toe in and camber front and rear- just call one up and ask them how they do it. The shop I went to said no problem. They gave me the spec sheet of what the settings were when they finished. I had rear adjustable control arms installed with H-sport springs and for me the alignment was very very helpful. I had more negative camber in the rear than dandp. The car did not handle well.

no problem L.Mini...I would also add that lowering the car certainly makes it feel more "planted" in the turns, more aggressive on the highway and the overall look is really nice. It's good that you've had your wheels on for a little while now, doing the suspension a little at a time gave me a good idea how each mod changed the car.

I've got another question about lowering a MINI. I was looking at the KWs which seem to lower the front lip quite a bit. I was wondering if the lower lip would act as a plow of sorts in the winter snows we get here in the midwest. Would you experience even more clearance problems in the high snow?

Thought adding a pic of the Coke can would demonstrate how low the front of these cars really get after lowering springs and wheel/tire changes. This is in my garage without my added weight and with no spring compression at all. The other major thing to consider besides the claimed lowering rate is the tires you run. I currently have the 215/40/17 Yokohama Parada's with H-Sport lowering springs and you can see how much clearance I have to work with. Some of you may have springs that claim lower rates than the 1" drop of the H-Sport's but you probably have taller tires as well. I agree with ARitz that the winter will be an enjoyable experience. Gives a whole new meaning to roadkill when I know I can't drive over stuff like I did in my SUV.

If you want to keep the sidebite of the added camber, just have them adjust your toe. Toe + camber is what kills the inside of the tread. Without the toe to scrub, the camber just wears based on squirm and the inner wear really isn't bad at all. This comes from experience with running 3-5 degrees of camber on track setup cars. What I never understood is why people get a "performance" drop and then take away half the performance by dialing the camber back out. The appearance drops do tend to have too much negative camber though.
