and thanks Joaquin--the paint is amazingly good.
You crack me up...your analogy is too funny.

I'm glad the paint is working out for your project.

(i) all dark silver (thanks to Partsman, I got factory paint which is clearly better than anything that comes from any retailer)
Where did you get this paint? was it spray paint? Was it expensive?

In regards to the Joey on your headlights, the chrome around the light bulbs looks very dark. Is that due to the reflection of the black in the headlight, or have you sprayed it?

PS woot! 500th post!

There is LaminX tint on the headlight covers. I did that before I did the Joey mod in an effort to darken the headlights, and just left it on after the Joey mod. So depending on the amount of daylight, they can look almost completely black.

A few photos from this weekend:
This is the chest, opened and currently in statis:

These are the parts being operated on:

The chrome above the high beam lamp is painted black.
The facia is dark silver, but no clear coat in this photo--I applied that this morning.

Thanks Phil for taking the time to post pictures and a tutorial. I've been waiting for that from someone since June! You got spray paint from Mini? I thought MinSpeed was the only place that sold factory colored paint?? Great Job man!

I have a body shop supply store near me that will put factory colors in a spray can. I have never used it(i have a friend at a body shop that does my stuff) but I guess it's pretty good stuff according to Phil.

Can you hook a brotha up?!??! I'll obviously pay for it and shipping, assuming it's reasonable.

I don't mind getting you the paint, but you may want to shoot DrPhil a PM to get his take on it first.
BTW, while you're at it...ask him how it much it was. I honestly don't remember with the shipping.

Here's a teaser.

Mostly dark silver, but highbeam housing and rings are black.

I will post my HowTo on the Joey Mod HowTo thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...od-how-to.html

cheers,

Very, very nice...Phil.
They look so much better than the non-factory headlamps you had in there.

No more teasing...let's see some full frontal.

Looks nice, I like the detail with the black around the lower portion.
