Instead of Craftsquare Mirrors...

Anyone try something similiar to this: http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...asp?RecID=1561

The only problem I could see would be the fabrication of a mount
Anyone try something similar? Have any insight?

I think it would be cool if someone made a mirror that mounted inside to the A pillar that replaced the outside review and we could shave the bug catcher off all together. Just thinking out loud.

2 things-
anyone know how much those mirrors weigh?
if you wanna get rid of your mirrors, a while back honda (i think it was them) had a concept car w/ little cameras (similar to back-up cams) in place of thew mirrosa w/ a small screen on the inside the car about where the mirrors were (you may not save much weight , but reduce drag, haha just an idea

But his were custom and the mirrors came off the Audi R10 racecar. Same idea though and would definitely look cool.

I think I'm gonna bite the bullet, buy a set and see what I can do about fabricating a mount. I really like the look of race mirrors but can't justify $500-600 for a set of craftsquare mirrors

Look on ebay, there was a company that sold a similar mirror with a mount kit for the MINI.

You have hit on the real issue the mounts. The mirrors are no problem and you can actually find them quite inexpensive but the mount is a different story . We looked into this back in 03 and decided it wasn't worth the effort based on the interest out there at the time . The mount base is a quite complex grouping of curves and shapes and covers a good bit of area in order to replace the stock Mini piece. There are a few out there and the reason the price is so high is that more than half of the cost is for the base plate itself. If someone can come up with a less expensive setup I would be interested as well. Good luck

Does anyone make a mirror like this in fiberglass? I would like a set, but want them in black like the oem ones.

At my job I deal with a machine shop now and then so I'm going to look into having a mount made up. I'm also not ruling out a mount with fiberglass construction.

If you can let me know as I can come up with the mirrors themselves very reasonably.

Question...
Could you remove the mirror from the pedestal, you know where it turns when I hit the garage wall pulling in cuz my GF can't park, and mount a universal set to the top of the base? Then all you'd have to do is fab a small sort of cap to make it look more vehicle specific??
