new pedals?

hey, i was wondering how i would go about putting in new pedals in a mini, cause from what i saw when i went out the pedal is all one piece all the way... (pedals are not being held on by screws) and the gas pedal is all one plastic piece that is hinged to the floor...

What I did for the pedals I have is pull the current covers off. Line up the new pedals and mark where to drill. Drill holes and bolt the new ones.

Yep... at least on the first gens, the clutch and brake pedal covers just snap/slide on. You pull them off and screw/bolt on the aftermarket covers. For the accelerator and dead pedal, the aftermarket pedal covers screw on over the existing pedal.

I believe 2nd gen are made the same way.

Unfortunately, as a result of bolting something on top of the accel. pedal, it will feel closer to you, relative to the brake and clutch, whose heights don't change with a new cap.

Not a biggie, just something to be aware of if you are considering pedals. I'd suggest shimming up the throttle about 3/16" to try it and see if that is OK for you - I didn't like it, as it makes Heel-and-toe more difficult.

I would also find issues with a pedal set for the accelerator. I need my foot to slide on the pedal as it actuates since my heel stays put. The issues with added thickness interfering with heel-toe are just more reasons to stay stock.

Furthermore, I rather like the stock rubber pedals. That little bit of slip is something I rely on to operate smoothly, especially on the clutch where my foot rotates through the stroke. My legs are very long and my feet are huge.

Same I was just wondering as I am going to have to replace the brake pedal because my cousin drove it with cleats on and somehow they rode off those lil rubber strips... I guess I can try apoxying them back on though. Thanks for the input guys!

MINI does sell replacement covers and they are not that expensive. Quite a bit less then a new set of quality pedal pads such as these or these But then again you can them made the way you want. To facilitate Heel Toe I mixed a set of the Ferrari Brake and Clutch pedals with and extended MINI gas pedal.

Not my car, but same setup.

How do you get the stationary foot rest off?

I have tried tugging on it thinking that there are retainer clips, but it doesn't seem to budge. Don't want to pull too hard. I don't see any screw caps or anything. Help would be greatly appreciated ASAP as I am in the middle of an install that requires me to remove it.

THANKS

You need to wedge something under the pedal and pry it off. There is a 10mm bolt under it that needs to be removed
