Interior/Exterior ClearCorners.Com LED MINI Tail Lights

cost of each module they sell is about $40 dollars. this gives you a 1" cluster of LEDs.
we've had plenty of customers who've attempted to go that route. years ago, even I tinkered with some of those.. they are just not feasible. plugging in bulb-sized array of LEDs is the equivelent of plugging in an HID retrofit kit in a halogen headlamp assembly -- those who know about lighting know its a joke in terms of light output and performance.
Those LED bulb clusters are typically used by motorcycle enthusiasts.. but even then, they are barely sufficient. If I rode a bike, I think I would want the best lighting available.. considering my life is on the line. I mean, same applies with cars.. but atleast you have more to protect you in a car.
As always, buyer beware.

I thought I would revive this old thread rather than start a new one and try to provide some "history". It has taken FOREVER but the tails are in the mail.
Take a look at this link: http://www.clearcorners.com/products/BMW/mini1/r_full/
I'm expecting them in a couple of days but it will probably be a couple of week before I can get them installed. It has been almost a year since I first asked Mike to do this custom job, not sure that I would do it over but SURE looking forward to seeing the results!

Regarding price, I can tell you right now there is no way this retrofit will be even close to the 100-120 price-range. The high-intensity LED circuit boards we work with are all custom fabricated and built-to-spec to fit within the clearances of each project we work on. It is just impossible at this point in time to offer LED at that low of a price. Not trying to scare anyone off, but its important you understand that technology like this costs much, much more. I estimate retail price on this entire conversion will be approx $700/pair.
At that price, I guess you ARE a low volume company.
Note to self: Do not modify factory tails...spend that money
on something more worthwhile.
And I don't think it's the technology that costs that much, rather the cost of the labor.

You are absolutly correct.
You can spend the same to make your MINI sound better(?), or go faster(?), maybe "color code' the wheel arches to body color or replace some of the interior(?).
I guess what I am trying to say is we "mod" or MIN's in different ways, but I don't think any particular "mod" is more worthwhile than another.
I have simply done it my way!
