5-Piece vs. 3-Piece Dash Kit
I am looking at the 5-Piece JCW CF dash as a replacement to the wood dash the previous owner of my cooper had installed. I own a 2004 MC and would just like to know the main difference between the 3 and 5 piece sets. I read there are airbag issues to consider for the passenger.
Can anyone shed some light on any issues I should consider? From what I read, the older model pre-2004 used the 5 piece before mini moved onto using the 3-piece?

gob15- Maybe you could just post some pics here on NAM for everyone to see. I'd like to see the real wood dash in a real MINI. I've only seen the small pics from some website and the airbrushed wood one that someone here did. I'm sure there are lurkers that would also appreciate seeing how it looks too.
This is one mod I've been thinking of since last September. My way of getting a wee bit of retro/classic look in a new MINI.

LOL! That's what I was thinking when I pm'd the other day. I had asked for pics... but now that the ice cream MINI is eyeing them ... well I couldn't take them from the ice cream MINI.

hmmm. I am trying to figure out what you mean by "real wood dash". It's definitely not real wood. It's most certaintly a plastic mold with a real look dark wood pattern. Looks pretty good and I have had no issue with it other than I prefer the carbon fiber look.

WOW!! Those are SO pretty! Too bad mine is a 3 piece. But thanks for taking the time to post the pics! I wonder where the former owner got them? Any idea what company they purchased from?
BEAVR- I think this dash would look awesome on your car! Reminds me of a sugar cone. Mmmmmmmm! The ultimate Ice Cream MINI!

The wood dash looks great!
Has anyone done business with CooperGear.com, they have changed their name to M&M Custom finishing. They do some wood or carbon fiber graphics that look great.
I am thing of their red & black carbon fiber look for my 06 astro Black MCS.
I believe their process is called hydragrapic printing.
Gary
Any insight would be appreciated.

Hey gob15- THANKS for the heads up on this!
And not-so-rednwhitecooper- WOW! THANKS for posting this info! What site did you use to find it? I was just looking the #'s up on Pelican Parts. I had searched on their site and realoem and a few others and couldn't seem to find anything. Talked with some nuts at the wooddash group and didn't get anything accomplished there. I told gob15 that I have wanted to do this since I got the '08 in September. I knew I wasn't going to like the dash (not much of a brushed metal kind of girl)... but the pickin's were slim. Figured I'd take what I could get and change the dash parts later. In my '05, it came with the Chili Red colorline pieces... looks good. So I've been thinking either wood or color.
Anyone else out there have the wood dash options in their cars? ( What are the chances that they would read this?)
Again, THANKS guys for the help! (Even though I just spent a bunch of money to get all my black plastic trim pieces painted body color ... maybe I can sell an organ to pay for the wood dash? )

@miniola,
On ReaOEM, all of the accessory dashboards are listed under 51 VEHICLE TRIM>51 95 ACCESSORIES AND RETROFITTINGS>RETROFIT, WOOD DECOR INTERIOR STRIPS.
I think there may be multiple wood finishes offered, ans there are multiple part numbers for the same parts that fit the same style dash.

just wanted to say i love that wood dash. You really don't see them often. i bought the center piece that surrounds the speedometer for not much on the british ebay. it's in the same wood pattern as you have. And left the other pieces on the dash anthracite. i looks wonderful with the chrome surround kit. especially with a brg mini.
