Direct replacement bulbs will not cause any issues, even if they are a different color temp range.

I don't think you will get the error. Does the kit come with relay harness? By the way, 8k is too blue. I would go for the 6k or 4300k. Just my thought.

the fog bulb socket is made different for our year mini. i think...don't go and buy them just yet. last time i checked my fogs on my mini the way the socket holds the bulb in, it's different . that why i didn't go with hid kit. and the kit you linked me to, pretty decent, but harness are separate i guess. the harness is for your stock wiring protection. remember, if you go anything above 6k or below 4300k, the intensity or brightness goes down. to me, it's just for looks and kinda hurts your eyes.

i was thinkin about getting some hids for my fogs as well. i wanted 3000k..
was wondering if anyone had them done yet? i wanna see if they're that much brighter.
and do we NEED the relay harness? would it still be ok without it?
it's more a saftey precaution isn't it?

I was planning to purchase the same set from DDMtuning for the fogs but didn't pull the trigger because DDMtuning has a history of backorders after order is submitted and paid for. Do a search on some BMW boards (e46fanatics .. etc) for more detail.

Check out this thread. MarioKart installed the old Apexcone kit from DDMtuning. Not sure if the harness is any different on the new kit with slim ballast. 6k is probably be the best color to get, 8k is too blue and 4k is too bright.
