TPMS Swap or Install on 17" R53 S-Lites

We just purchased a new 2009 R56 Cooper Base. It came with stock 15" wheels with TPMS sensors. I saved my old set of S-Lites from my R53 and I'm currently driving my 2009 R56 with the S-Lites and no TPMS, so the warning light is always on.

I have two options:
1) reuse my TPMS sensors from the take-offs, but then I would have to remount and rebalance 8 tires and rims! That's about $160, I'm guessing.

2) buy new/used TPMS sensors and valves and mount and balance my S-Lites

I haven't decided which way I want to go, because i'd rather just have the take-offs to sell with the original TPMS sensors or to use as spares in the future. Plus, it seems if I can find a used set for about $130-150 the price difference isn't too much compared to option #1 (about $210-230 total).

I'm looking to buy a BMW TPMS set that I've found matching part numbers. My questions are:
* What's the correct valve stem size to purchase for my 17" S-Lites? Green, black, grey, silver, red, yellow? (43, 48, 49, 51, 56mm?)
* Will I need to purchase a mounting kit (which one?) if I purchase a complete set of used sensors and valve stems (already assembled)?

Thanks in advance.

I received a response from SK8BRD regarding his past swap. Discount Tire only charged him $20 to remove sensors and valves on his take-offs and install new rubber stems. That's a great deal if I can make sure the old tires don't need to be rebalanced!

For reference, installing the sensors and valves on the second set of rims cost him $35 (includes the TPMS rebuild kit cost) - rebalancing is extra, unless you have a previous deal with the tire center for purchasing tires from there.

Option #1 may be the way to go now, but I'm still thinking about option #2
