I have to agree that the "dry look" CF vinyl looks fantastic on the interior surfaces. I took my new dash and downtubes to the dealership today and they went all weak in the knees over it. OMG But in my case, the exterior is all gloss, all CF (real not vinyl) and using this product--which I totally love btw-- on the exterior would introduce a completely new texture not in keeping with the high gloss finish.

I am not doing the doors because of the welding problem, btw.

That is my quandry also. If you use the CF vinyl wrap and then shoot it with clear, how close will it look to the real CF parts, like the JCW mirror caps? Has anybody done this yet?

Thanks for the tips on the door disassembly.

I did my mirrors. The round shape made keeping the weave even tough. Wound up undoing it.

As for the product and clearing it.
I have some painters that claim they can clear it no problem.
I have yet to see this done. None have called me back with results yet.

I can get some other products that are cleared carbon, they only work on flat surfaces, so things like doors (exterior) are perfect. Something like the roof, not a chance. The dome shape is too tough for this vinyl to wrap.

Only the dry carbon comes in the quality texture AND is wrappable.

I can get wrappable cleared carbon fiber, but it's a TERRIBLE imitation.

I *think* your best bet would be to vinyl the door in this and then resin over the surface, much like you would with real carbon. Still need to test this also. I have NO idea how to work with resins and such.

You may want to look at ORACAL 975 Carbon Fiber Cast, Outdoor Durability
