I would shaft the rings. They stand out too much (physically) from the lights. But I've never seen the grill or lower bumper piece in cf...real or fake...
there was a thread on here at one time of someone who made his own with a nicer looking design than the factory ones. im not sure if it's still around though.
Keep up the good work, i liked the threads you put on vw vortex of your work.
I like the grill very much, are the cf rings just placed on top of the headlight rings to see how it looks ? Because they dont look like they are seated properly with fender/light assembly.....and I think that is why some don't like the look.
I tend to like the dry CF on interior pieces vs exterior. The exception is on a white car. I've seen many BMW 1 and 3's in white with CF and it looks great. Wear it for a while and see how YOU feel about it later on.......great workmanship
The rings are just laid over plastidipped rings that are currently on the lights. they are just balancing.
I want to do my bumper and all the plastics in cf.
Gotcha. In that case, I like it! The CF look has it's place...in my opinion on black and white it can work well if done tastefully. I like what you have done so far.
I am very happy with the dry carbon look JBell did for me, here are a few shots
I like the color, the 3D pattern and this dry carbon look, a real winner....
I think the headlight covers would look better to most if they were actually installed instead of as they are displayed just sitting on top of the chrome set....you really can't appreciate the flavor of this look in that manner.
Exactly. There are 4 or 5 screws holding the panel to the car. Once those are off the door panel can be removed from the door by pulling it off (plastic tabs hold it on). Then on the back you can see all the plastic weld holding the trim on. There are quite a few people that have taken them off, but I don't know how they reattached them to the panel.
You can reattach them using a combination of rewelding (using a low power soldering iron) , screws (with big flat heads into the weld bosses) & adhesive (structural 2 pack).
The more the better!
