In real life it looks like mine stick out far, but in pictures they dont look like it as much to me, so I guess it was just me. haha.

Just got mine today...off ebay as well and I agree that they seem to stick out further than pictures of others that I've seen. They are very solid quality I'd say and will certainly work. As I scoured this site for pictures of others I haven't found any other than yours right now. Got mine from a lace called Eurosport Garage...nice price, fast ship so I love that. I imagine they can be cut down but I'll live with them as is for awhile. Here are some vendor options I've found...though some are of different design:

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop..._tow_hook.html

OEM replacemnt:
http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/NMX7625/InvDetail.cfm

Like ours, but maybe not as protruding:
http://www.promini.com/product-exec/product_id/6107

Like ours:
http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=57671

Verdict is they're all a bit different...different horses. I'll try to post a picture of my red ones that are exactly like yours. Sorry about that snow/grunge all over your Mini

The more mine sit on my car, the more I like them.
BUT!
They are starting to rust. FTL.
I don't know what to do, take them off or just leave them,
or put something so they stop rusting.

If I take them off, it defeats the purpose of me ever having them.
If I paint them it would be hard to get them on without scratching the paint.
and I am talking about painting the.. rod part.

Are yours rusting?
or anyones?
or everyones?

Found a post with a bunch of NAMmers with the various options lots of yours and mine.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...w-hooks-3.html

Odd that yours are rusting...too early to tell since mine just came in and on my GP today. The bolt on mine seems to be plated so maybe you have a variation that's different. The hook/hinge part is anodized aluminum, do no rust there. Why not pull em off, steal wool the rust...which I assume is on the bolt part which comes off on mine...and then spray clear acrylic or lacquer on 'em. That should keep old man rust at bay.

That probably what I will have to do.
I will go buy some maybe tomorrow. =]

Thanks.

Jirsty,
This is funny cause iv been looking EVERYWHERE for someone to tell me how far they stick out. Im planning on getting one, but that was my only concern. Right now i am using the stock one that i painted red, but i wanted sumthing a little more agressive looking. They look pretty sick. just curious, how many inches would you say it sticks out from the grill?

its like exactly 3 inches.

If i fold it out, its less than 6 inches.

I dropped the camera while taking these pictures, so it wont focus now, so thats why i only took one and dont have a pic with the hook extended.

Hope this helps.
