Kinda like this setup in my car?
All the parcel shelves come with the area for the switch, you get a blank plate to cover the hole if you dont have rally lights. The stock MINI switch is not suitable for use with aftermarket wiring kits as it is an 'electronic' switch that interfaces with the MINI electrical system. If you get the factory lights, the switch 'mostly' fits the space, though not exactly. Basicaly you have to spread the clips that retain the switch in place so it has a better grip.
You can use the blank plate that comes with the parcel shelf as a mounting for a different switch, such that comes with aftermarket kits. Doing so will make a custom panel.

>>>You actually LIKE that rally light siwtch?
I want mine hard wired into my high beams.<<<
If you run with covers on your lights, then the switch comes in handy. You can turn on your high beams at any time without worrying about melting the covers. Not only that, but when they're hardwired in, if you flash your lights at an oncoming car, you're hitting them with the driving lights too. Do that to a police guy and he'll write you up, for sure!
If you don't run covers, you should seriously think about getting a set. 80%, or better, of your driving is done during times you wouldn't normally use the lights. During all this time, though, your lights are still exposed to a sandblasting effect and the occassional rock on the road. Catch a rock in the lens, and you'll find out that MINI doesn't sell replacement lenses. You have to buy a complete light, and believe me, they don't give them away!
