Illuminated Sill Plates from MOSS--help

Hi,

I'm new to the forums but this is my second MINI Cooper.

I was just wondering if anyone has ever installed the illuminated sill plates from MOSS? I now have everything apart and drilled but I am not sure where to tap the black and red wires into. The instructions are not at all detailed, and there are no clips that plug direcly into outlets such as the ones that come with the genuine BMW accessory illuminated sill plates. If anyone has ever installed one of these kits, I would love to hear about what you tapped the wires into and how you did it.

Oh I am installing them on my 2005 MINI Cooper. I will be selling my old MINI Cooper; a clean straight red 2003 with 127K through our dealership for a reasonable $8,990.00 if anyone is interested.

Thanks

If you are installing them on an 05 that is a gen 1 car and this is the gen 2 section. you may have better luck asking in the gen 1 forums.

OK,

Now that this is in the correct section, is there anyone that can provide a little help here?

Unfortunately, I cannot help with your questions regarding wiring.

However, I can give you a bit of cautionary advise regarding install. Make sure both doors are properly aligned and not hanging low. Be very careful after install to insure the a bolt on the underside of the door (opposite side of door hinges) doesn't hit the aluminum door sill. You do not want to fully close the door unless you know the bolt has cleared the door sill.

Thanks,

The ones from MOSS wire uo a bit differently, you have a red and black wire that you have to tap into something. It looks like the BMW kit allows you to plug right into a harness.

I will be tapping into the footwell lights. Wish me luck

You can just tap into the dome light fuse using an add a fuse. It'll work just the same...just makes the install look cleaner. As for your black wire, thats your ground. You can attach it to any bolt that attached to the frame of the car. Pretty much any piece of metal under the dash will do.
