I guess you simply unbolted the middle hinge for folding the seats, instead of removing seat backs separately (normal way to remove the rear seat and involves one bolt).
The parts catalog says the bolt is M8x30 and the car uses a total of 7 of them. You can purchase part# 52207056516 at the dealer. A good hardware store may also have M8x30.

If you put the back of the seats down you will bee able to see a bolt in the middle bottom of the seats. (only 1 bolt) Once you remove that, there is a latch that you can slide up (I think, maybe down, only goes one way though)( #4 in RKW's picture is the latch that I am talking about). After that is out of the way you can remove the inside corner of the seat from the bracket. After that, tilt the seat up as if you were putting back into its normal position. While doing that pull towards the opposite side of the car from the seat back you are holding, and at about 45 degrees the seat should pop out. (# 3 in RKW's picture is where the seat will pop out of at that magic angle)
Once both seats are out, the bracket that you removed will be left in place in the center of the car.
Let me know if you need any more help. I think I made that confusing enough though. But honestly, once you see that one bolt the process is very straight forward.
