wyefye, I removed my seats just fine. You must have done it incorrectly.

As for the seat rails, when I get home from work I will check BMW TIS for you to see if they have instructions to remove the rails!

Judging from the parts diagrams, it looks like it bolts on

Seat frame

Rails

It says 12 of the screw #4 are used. The locations for 4 per side are visible in the seat frame diagram (accounting for 8); I don't know where the remaining 4 screws would be used.

wyefye, I've removed my seats a couple of times without a problem. What was "trashed" and how did you resolve it?

I think the person that owned the vehicle before me may have broke it real nice for me. I picture him being Fat at about 250-300 lbs, greasy, and does know how to drive a manual or perform basic vehicle care.

Seriously though, it wouldn't go up or down in height, and it got stuck in the reclined position.. as soon as i removed it from the car.

I made the same mistake wyefye (if i understand what he is saying correctly) did i accidently changed the positioning of the seats without the rails screwed in, didnt break anything just a major PITA to fix.

As I recall (it has been 5 years) you need a 90degree Torx (T40) I got one from NAPA for under $3
